Our founder, Marion A. Allen, graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950
with a BBA degree in Business, majoring in Accounting.
In 1952, Marion decided to begin his own business in Fort Valley, Georgia.
Allen Insurance & Realty Company specialized in both insurance and real
estate sales. In 1968, Marion changed
the name of the business to Marion A. Allen, Inc.
In 1954, at age 24, Marion entered the Fort Valley, Georgia mayoral race and was
elected. According to the City Charter and By-Laws, however, he could not
officially serve until the age of 25. As a result, even though he won the
election in March, an attorney was appointed to serve as Mayor until Marion
reached his 25th birthday that October. Marion then successfully completed 2
two-year terms as the Mayor of Fort Valley. He has remained active in political
campaigns, serving as local manager in gubernatorial campaigns, on state
committees and at the Executive Committee level.

began as a family-owned business and remains so today. All Allen family members
actively participate in the daily operation and management of the corporate
office, located in Fort Valley, and of the other branches and family-held
corporations, including the nationally and internationally-known
Allen Insurance Group
and their
various
affiliated
companies.
Marion A. Allen, Inc. has grown and prospered by the many years of
knowledge and expertise accumulated by Mr. Marion Allen. As a testament to
his long-term commitment to the real estate industry, Marion holds and maintains
his original broker's license number
60. Today, the Allen
companies include the original real estate business in Fort Valley, Georgia and
independent insurance agencies located in Fort Valley, Byron, Norcross and Gainesville,
Georgia and Altamonte Springs, Florida.
After 5 decades of business ownership, Mr. Allen remains very much an active,
daily hands-on part of managing the Allen companies, serving as an advisor and
“mentor” and participating in all areas of the businesses, from marketing and
sales to underwriting and customer service. |
